Printmaking
This set was made by exposing paper soaked in cyanotype solution. Once I soaked the paper, I let it dry in the darkness, then created these halftone images on photoshop, printed them onto transparency paper, and then drew on them with paint makers to get those white lines. Then once I had that transparency sheet I laid it over the soaked and dried paper inside of the exposure table to expose. After that I watercolored over some parts and used a pencil for outlines. Additionally I embossed circles into them in the printing press but it's hard to tell from the photo that it's raised.
These prints were made by coating a screen in photo emulsion, and exposing it through a transparency sheet, similar to the cyanotype method. Once I had my screen exposed I could print as many times as I want with all different color variations and on all types of fabric.
Screen Printing with Stencils
Each layer is done with a different stencil, You need to wait for each layer to dry before printing the next layer. This project was for a community donation of art based on hanging inspiring happy thoughts around the town to lift peoples spirits. I chose to write, "I'm okay, You're Okay, We're all okay".
Screen printing with screen filler.
Similar to the stencil method, you have to print one layer at a time, but with screen filler, once you fill the next layer in your screen, you can't go back and undo it, or print the previous layer ever again. This process is a one time thing where you must print every variation at once, layer by layer. Lots of room for error.
